College View Estates Association
CVEA gradually evolved from informal progressive dinners begun in the 1980s. In 2010 CVEA became a not-for-profit corporation. An extraordinary 50% of households join CVEA (dues voluntary). CVEA does not engage in political activities, but it may, with the approval of membership, make recommendations to the College Area Community Council (a city planning board) or City Council on issues directly affecting the community.
Monthly meetings, held the last Tuesday of the month at a neighbor's home, are open to anyone. There is an elected board and block communicators facilitate communication with all of the neighbors.
CVEA sponsors the annual Fall progressive dinner and the annual Spring block party. The CVEA Gazette is distributed to all households.
